Hello/Hola and welcome to Psi Class. We are a mixed KS2 & 3 class of 9 boys. My name is Mrs Anderson and I have the pleasure of teaching your children part of this year. This term the boys will be taking part in Forest Schools with Mr Darkins and Mr Bishop. We are also lucky enough to have two support staff in our class Mrs McDonald and Mr Bishop.
To contact Mrs Anderson please email: email@example.com
Our topic this term is Famous Faces.
We will be researching similarities and differences around the world. For example, climate, clothing, languages, housing etc. and will be paying a special focus on the famous Julius Caesar. The boys will aslo be researching inspirational leaders from across the globe and investigate what skills are required to be a leader. This will link nicely to our PSHE of friendships where we will also learn skills and strategies to help with our anger, anti bullying and safety.
As scientists we will be looking at the life cycles of flowers insects and amphibians. The boys will research how climate and other factors may affect the life cycle across the globe.
In Maths we will be looking at fractions, percentages and decimals as well as shapes and angles.
In English we will reading and discussing adverts. We will discuss what makes a good and bad advert. Pupils will design their own advert to encourage people NOT to buy their toy, imagine that! Later in the term we will be reading and comparing plays.
In between this busy time we will hopefully have the opportunity for cooking. We will discuss as a class what healthy meals we can prepare and cook for you to taste, yummy.
We have lots of new, exciting and interesting things to learn about this term!
We believe in giving the boys responsibility and we have decided, as a class, for homework to be available for them to take home during the week and is expected back every Friday. Pupils can take books from the library. Let them know what book, magazine etc you like we may have it in our library for you to read together.
It is important that the children complete all the homework tasks given as it will help them to reach their full potential. If you are unsure how to help you child complete their homework please contact Mrs E Anderson at school.
I myself love to read and I am happy to report I have seen the boys enjoying their reading for pleasure time. Research tells us that children need to read for pleasure (we all do!) and it has been a pleasure observing the boys confidence grow when deciding what they want to read whether it be a book, magazine, books on line etc.
Let's keep the pleasure for reading a focus.
Let me know what you are reading at home!
I am currently reading 'Dark Places' by Gillian Flynn, a 'gutsy, atmospheric and suspense loaded thriller' as explained by Woman and Home.
This term the boys will have the opportunity to attend at least one school trip. We have also rearranged our trip from last half term which was postponed. A letter or txt message will inform you of the date. Watch this space for more details!
