Theta

Welcome to Theta!

Hello and welcome to Theta class! We are a mixed age and ability class of eight boys, with Miss Lindsay as our teacher and Ms Spencer and Ms Rawlinson  supporting us. Each morning we do English, Maths and interventions planned around individual children's needs. After lunch we have CAP sessions, which this term include football, films, gymnastics and the sensory room.

To contact Miss Lindsay, please email: a.lindsay@hope-school.co.uk

Our whole school theme this term is

Famous Faces

Our topic this half term is Famous Faces. On launch day, we participated in lots of different activities to get us ready for the term ahead. We made one page profiles on our favourite celebrities, made a collage out of lots of famous faces and learnt some new cooking skills from some top chefs!

In English this term we will be discovering play scripts and extending our knowledge on character dialogue. In Maths, we will be continuing to develop our mental arithmetic skills and deepening our understanding on data handling and shapes. In Geography, we will be researching Tourism in Great Britain and abroad, linking this with our Spanish topic of clothes and people's jobs!

This term, we will be taking part in weekly music workshops with the Kabantu Music group. We are really excited to welcome the band into school and can't wait to take part in a whole school music concert at the end of term.

During this term, we will be going on a number of trips and educational visits! Details of these will be sent home closer to the time.

Behaviour

We have worked hard to improve our behaviour and this can be seen in the behaviour levels that we are achieving each week. We have currently been doing very well in terms for Class of the week and we intend to continue to improve and maintain this wonderful behaviour this term!

Homework

English and maths homework will be sent home weekly on a Friday to be returned on a Thursday. It is very important that homework is completed regularly and that reading at home takes place at least three times a week. This will help your son/charge to make the best possible progress. Text messages will be sent home to ensure your son/charge brings their homework home with them. Homework can be emailed to parents if needed.

Swimming

We will be going swimming on Thursdays for the next half term. Please bring your swimming shorts and towel to school each week. A text will be sent every week Wednesday afternoon as a reminder.

Miss Lindsay will be sending emails home to some parents/careers weekly to provide updates about your son/charge regarding behaviour and progress in learning. If you are not receiving weekly emails and would like for this to happen, please contact Miss Lindsay at any time on the above email address.
