Transport

The majority of Hope School pupils travel to and from school by taxi provided by the local authority. This can be suspended or cancelled under certain circumstances(for instance if a child refuses to wear a seat belt) even if they have a EHCP.

Pupils should be collected in time to get them to school for 8.30 am. As there are often two or three children in the same cab, it is a good idea to have your child ready to leave well before the time you expect the taxi. We will give you the number of the taxi firm and the run number so that you can ring the taxi firm if there are any problems.

Please be aware that the taxi driver is not required to knock on your door, beep his horn or remain outside the property for more than three minutes.  It is the responsibility of the parent/carer to be vigilant and be aware of the taxi's arrival.  The School Transport Department will provide only one journey to school and one journey home.  If a pupil misses their taxi it is the responsibility of the parent/carer to get the pupil to or from school.  A missed taxi is not a reason for a pupil to be absent from school. If a pupil misses their taxi, for whatever reason, please contact the school office.  In exceptional circumstances it may be possible to provide additional transport, however the cost of this may be taken from the individual pupil's accumulated credits.

Pupils are expected to wear their seat belts and remain seated during the whole journey.  Behaviour which compromises the safety or well-being of the taxi's occupants and other road users is unacceptable and will be dealt with at school and may result in the suspension or cancellation of this service.

The taxi is only able to bring the pupils directly to school and directly home.  No deviation such as calling to local shops, etc., is permitted.

If a pupil needs to be picked up from or dropped off to a different address the school office must be contacted by a responsible adult.  Messages from pupils or given directly to the driver or PA will not be acted upon.  Please allow sufficient time for the admin team to contact the School Transport Department and for them, in turn, to contact the taxi firm.  Requests made after 1.00 pm may not leave sufficient time for the driver to be informed and alterations cannot be guaranteed.  Please be aware that it is not possible to transport pupils to addresses out of the Liverpool area.

If you have any issues regarding transport please contact the school office on 363 3130 or the School Transport Department on 233 6513

Article 24: Every child has the right to the best possible health. Governments must provide good quality health care, clean water, nutritious food and a clean environment and education on health and well-being so that children can stay healthy. Richer countries must help poorer countries achieve this.
