Class 2

Welcome to Class 2

Hello, my name is Miss Dunning and I am the class 2 teacher. We are a mixed ability lower KS2 class with 10 pupils. We are supported by Miss Sage, who will be leading our interventions, supporting and motivating us to become the best learners we can be.

To contact me please email h.dunning@hope-school.co.u

We believe that the most important element to our class is that everyone is safe and feels safe, and that we are feeling happy, this will allow us to learn in the best possible way.

We do this by accepting each other and everybody's feelings, supporting each other and celebrating our own and others achievements.

Our core value this term is Optimism!

This term our core value is optimism. Optimism is a mindset. An optimistic attitude helps us be happier, more successful, and healthier. Optimism can protect our mental health. An optimistic outlook makes children more resistant to stress.

On launch day the children were able to take part in drama, sports, cooking and art-based activities to build their optimistic thinking strategies.

Our Learning

Reading

Even after children learn to read by themselves, it's still important for you to read aloud together. By reading stories that are on their interest level, but beyond their reading level, you can stretch young readers' understanding and motivate them to improve their skills. We are more than happy to supply families with books to read at home.

Our goal is to motivate children to want to read so they will practice reading independently and, thus, become fluent readers.

Intervention

All pupils receive interventions which are based on individualised learning plans. These support and adhere to their individual needs in both curricular and non curricular activities. Interventions ensure that all children are embraced into our school and are given opportunities to build relationships and progress in their learning.

All pupils will also receive sensory and mindfulness sessions, every morning to help settle pupils into the school day.

Homework

A homework planner (please see below) will be given out at the beginning of each term so that you can see what is expected during that time. Pupils can pick any activity to complete each week as homework, in any order.
