Providing an attachment friendly community which fosters warmth with high boundaries so that all can achieve to their full potential.
The majority of Hope School pupils travel to and from school by taxi provided by the local authority. This is not a condition of their Education and Health Care Plan and can be suspended or cancelled under certain circumstances.
Pupils are asked to be ready to leave the house from 7.30 am. This does not mean the taxi will call at 7.30 am as often there are two or three pupils sharing a taxi. Pupils should be collected in time to get them to school for 8.00 am.
If a pupil has not been collected by 7.50 am please contact the school office on 363 3130. The administration team will then contact the taxi firm and try to resolve any issues.
Please be aware that the taxi driver is not required to knock on your door, beep his horn or remain outside the property for more than three minutes. It is the responsibility of the parent/carer to be vigilant and be aware of the taxi's arrival. The School Transport Department will only provide one journey to school and one journey home. If a pupil misses their taxi it is the responsibility of the parent/carer to get the pupil to and from school. A missed taxi is not a reason for a pupil to be absent from school. If a pupil misses their taxi, for whatever reason, please contact the school office. In exceptional circumstances it may be possible to provide additional transport, however the cost of this may be taken from the individual pupil's accumulated credits.
Pupils are expected to wear their seat belts and remain seated during the whole journey. Behaviour which compromises the safety of the taxi's occupants and other road users is unacceptable will be dealt with at school and may result in the suspension or cancellation of this service.
The taxi is only able to bring the pupils directly to school and directly home. No deviation such as calling to local shops etc. is permitted.
If a pupil need to be picked up from or dropped off to a different address the school office must be contacted by a responsible adult. Messages from pupils or given directly to the driver will not be acted upon. Please allow sufficient time for the admin team to contact the School Transport Department and for them, in turn, to contact the taxi firm. Requests made after 1.00 pm may not leave sufficient time for the driver to be informed and alterations cannot be guaranteed. Please be aware that it is not possible to transport pupils to addressed out of the Liverpool area.
Some parent/carers prefer to be provided with a bus pass rather than a taxi. This is their choice but it is not possible for a pupil to be in receipt of a bus pass and be provided with a taxi. If a pupil is provided with a bus pass and arrives at school after 8.15 he is recorded as late. If a pupil's punctuality is a cause for concern then this will be brought to the attention of the school's Attendance Strategy Team and the Education Welfare Officer
If you have any issues regarding transport please contact the school office on 3633130 or the School Transport Department on 233 6513
Article 24: Every child has the right to the best possible health. Governments must provide good quality health care, clean water, nutritious food and a clean environment and education on health and well-being so that children can stay healthy. Richer countries must help poorer countries achieve this.
