How We Can Help You- Family Works and Hope Holidays

Family Works

The 'Family Works' programme is a very successful 10 week programme that we are able to offer to all parents and carers. One parents commented that the programme does exactly what it says; "it has made her family work".

Each session is based on a different theme and the themes include 'feeling good about myself', 'wanting to do well', 'attention', 'co-operation' and 'understanding and managing my feelings'.

The session runs from 10am until 12.30 and transport can be arranged.

The session is split into time for parents and carers to discuss their week. What has gone well, any issues etc and Mrs Spencer and Miss Woolley share strategies that we use in school that may be useful at home. This includes how to set boundaries, rewards, sanctions, the language that we use and anything that parents and carers have asked for support with. Children and invited into the second part of the session to complete an activity together. Parents and Carers tell us this special time, one to one with their child, is very precious. Parents and Carers then have strategies to take home and try during the week.

The 'Family Works' programme runs each term and parents and carers are reminded to return the letter very quickly as demand is always high.

At the end of the programme we invite parents and carers who have attended all sessions to take part in a 'Hope Holiday'. This is a one night/two day residential that focusses on the new skills that have been developed during Family Works. the next 'Hope Holiday' will take place in July 2015 at Lakeside activity Centre in Crosby.
